FROM THE CHAPLAIN
Autumn 2024
Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. George’s,
Welcome to St George's and to Venice! Whether you are here for a week or a lifetime, you are welcome at St George's.
St George's has the only English service in Venice on Sunday mornings, and we delight in greeting people from all over the world EVERY SUNDAY AT 10.30AM. And when we say welcome - we mean you are welcome to partcipate in the service, to receive communion if you are hungry for Christ, to sip prosecco with us afterwards, and to get involved with our on-going life together.
Autumn is beautiful in Venice, and this is a good place to give thanks for God's gifts in creation. Following the example of St Francis (whose feast day is 4 October), we held a special service of Blessing of the Animals on Sunday 6 October at 10.30am. Our visitors brought their pets to a celebration with meows and barks as well as song. Some people brought a picture, or had their children bring a favourite stuffed animal. It was a very happy and loving occasion.
And coming up later in the fall, as Advent begins, we will have a staged reading of Dylan Thomas' "A Child's Christmas in Wales" on 8 December at 5.00pm, and our traditional service of Christmas Lessons and Carols on 22 December, also at 5.00pm.
Blessings in this autumn season,
Lucinda+

Would you like to add a name to the prayer list? If you or someone you love is sick, in any kind of difficulty, has died, or wants to offer thanks for something, please send the name to Mr. Philip Jones at [email protected] Names will remain on the list and be mentioned in the Sunday intercessions for four (4) weeks; after that you will need to make another request if you want to continue.
